Call for contributions: Executive Report: Biodiversity through time

We are pleased to invite contributions to our upcoming report focused on sustainable biodiversity, titled “Biodiversity through time: Deep histories and living knowledge systems from the Global South”.

This report will be focused on providing perspectives from regions in the Global South of Africa (editors: Drs. Rahab Kinyanjui and Peter Gitau), Eurasia (editors: Drs. Mariya Antonosyan and Gopesh Jha) as well as Central and South America (editors: Michael Ziegler, Dr. Victor Caetano Andrade and Daniela Arango Ruda). We invite perspectives centered around these four main themes:

–    Rethinking Biodiversity: Concepts, Ontologies, and Histories

–    Deep Histories of Biodiversity Change

–    Conservation, Restoration, and Biocultural Futures

–    Rooted Knowledge: Indigenous Perspectives

As the aim of this report is to highlight perspectives from the Global South, contributions may be multi-authored as long as the lead author is a person from the Global South. Our call for contributions in pdf format, with more information about the four main themes, can be found here. We generally invite contributions of 700-1000 words, excluding footnotes and references, with 1-3 figures. More information about the format of the report can be found here. Reports may be written in any language the authors feel most comfortable with and we will work to translate them together.

We also invite you to read our previous report, “Regenerative Agriculture and Resilient Food Systems”, to see the work of our initiative, and where you can also get a sense of the format and structure of these reports.

We invite those interested in contributing to complete the expression of interest form, here, by the 25th of April 2026.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Our team is dedicated to curating content here that has inspired us in our pursuit of local voices and perspectives on the Anthropocene.
